End of the bottleneck

Hello again and whoa!! what a tour! :0)

I decided to get one of the tasks of the last post solved! Namely the water problem! :0D

Therefore I bought 2 750ml bottles and one mounting. I still had one old from last year.
Since I didn't wanted to wait until my next weekend tour, I decided to test the bottles and the mountings instantly. :0)

The new mounting was attached very easy. I had to buy a model with hook and loop fastener, because I haven't got those mounting points on my bike. The attaching was really fast, I just had to thread the fastener through the tiny gap between bike and gear bowden and then push the two sides onto each other. :0) Done! \:0D/

That's the first bottle mounting right after attaching it. I hope it stays there!

The second mounting wasn't that easy. :0) Because it was a mounting for bikes with that attaching points… But with the help of my two friends electrical tape and cable ties I solved that problem, too. I just had too measure the position and distances correctly. Here is the result:

My handcraftet construction. Please survive at least this one tour!

A short wiggling resulted in the same wiggle wiggle value for both mountings. Haha! :0)

Now I was curious how good or bad these constructions would do on a tour and if I could solve my lazyness problem with more lazyness. :0) Therefore I cleaned my bottles and filled them with slightly salted water. And then at 18 o'clock I started my tour. :0) But, as I promissed and had to hold my word, I drove the wrong way and found myself in a small forest! Haha! :0)

This happens when you search for shortcuts on the wrong way. :0D

After my small mishap, I took a longer but known shortcut.

Looks almost the same as in the forest at this time of the year, but leads to the goal. :0)

And finally I found some streets, fortunately! :0)

Here I had some long missed tailwind! This is the way from Bietikow to Seelübbe. I really like this small nest! :0)

Unfortunately the master of streets wasn't in my favour and replaced the street with a wonderful, almost impassable sand path. :0D I drove it nonetheless. :0)

It's not that easy to stop me! That just works with bus stops! :0D

Fortunately I drove on, because after that a beautiful nature revealed itself!
I like the light at the evening! It adds a wonderful glow to everything. :0) Here are some impressions:

A lonely red poppy on one of the last green fields I saw on my way.
Small dragonflies that gathered in this bush to plan on how they can attrackt more tourists that say: Oh how sweet they are. :0)
From here I would've liked to get an odor test for you! First it was a fresh coniferous forest smell and then it switched to something great I can't define. But it was nice and I could have sniffed on everything even with my bad nose. :0D
A small field. Haha! With future marshmallows! :0) Naf naf naf! :0)
Half of the tour done. :0) On the south tip of the Oberuckersee.

After half the way was done I checked my mountings and tried to get a small interim conclusion. Positive was that one bottle was empty now! 750 ml disappeared into my stomach! \:0D/ Drinking was a lot easier now. I did not have to stop and get down from my bike. Though I should stop to not drive into someone while drinking. :0) The bottle is really easy to get out of the mounting with one hand. Also the fastener is no problem! Drinking, closing and putting the bottle away is easy too. :0)

Also the mountings were still on their place. :0) Nothing was displaced! Neither the hook and loop fastener nor the self made one. \:0D/

The only disadvantages for now were:

  • I had to be more careful when I get on my bike, to not kick one of the mountings into the wilderness
  • The bottle below my saddle hits my pants on every treadle… But this should be no problem on greater tours, because I then wear some more tight pants. :0) At least as long as I don't find a restaurant or a big pile of chocolate on my way. :0P
  • The mounting below my saddle is at the place I always carried my bike at stairways or when I turned it around.

Also I put a bit to much salt into my water… Not to much to give a bad taste, but it was enough to make me more thirsty the more I drank. :0)

But now, more Pictures. :0)

The first bottle done! \o/ I always drank out of the front bottle below the handlebars and switched bottles after I emptied the first. :0) That was easier to handle.
Slowly the shadows became longer and the pictures worse. :0D But this cornflower wanted to be photographed.
For this picture I really had to get into the dirt! I hope nobody watched me. :0D Haha!
And back in Prenzlau! That was a nice trip! :0)
The hook and loop fastener after the tour.
The cable ties after the tour.

Both mountings did not went down after 50 km. And that even after driving on streets, cobblestone roads and sandy ways with deep pits. :0) Hahaha! \o/ Now I just have to get the raintest done, then I'm sure this will survive my Sweden tour. :0)

Here is my roadmap for this tour. :0) But be careful, this is a bad Google Maps link, so just click on it if you want Google to know your most secret secrets:

Hier ist noch der Fahrplan für alle Interessierten. :0) Aber Vorsicht, dass ist ein böser Google Maps Link, klickt also bitte nur darauf, wenn ihr all eure streng geheimen Daten an Google weitergeben möchtet:
Roadmap

Here is my fuel gage! 1,15 L on 50km. That's economical, isn't it? I also didn't cheat on this! ;0)

That was it for today, now I have to go to bed. I have to do a bit of swim training. :0) I'm so bad at swimming! Haha!

See you next time, have a lot of fun and exciting adventures on your journeys,
Robert
